New Educational Materials Now Available on the SPECTRUM Project Website

We are excited to announce a brand-new addition to the SPECTRUM Project (Supporting Elementary School Teachers in Recognizing and Understanding Minors with Special Educational Needs) Website under the Educational Materials section: GUIDELINES: How a Child with SEN Perceives the World. This resource features intuitive infographics designed to help educators, parents, and caregivers gain a deeper understanding of various Special Educational Needs (SEN). The infographics cover a wide range of disorders, disabilities, and impairments, including: Dyslexia Dysorthographia Dyscalculia ADHD Visual impairments Hearing impairments ...and more! Children with SEN often face unique challenges that can make traditional learning environments difficult. The project goal is to provide clear, insightful visuals that break down the complexities of these challenges. SPECTRUM Project Partners Met Again in Nicosia in Cyprus

This week the SPECTRUM project partners met after 4 months again in the beautiful city of Nicosia in Cyprus to continue with the work on the objectives of special needs teaching support. This gathering organized by Cypriot partner the Center for Social Innovation (CSI) was crucial for finalizing the guidelines and establishing the methodology for the upcoming phase of the first work package: collecting the best practice examples in the field of special educational needs. The first day was dedicated to detailed discussions and collaborative efforts to ensure the guidelines are comprehensive and practical. Then partners worked diligently to establish a detailed methodology that will guide the collection of best practice examples. This phase is essential for enhancing the educational experiences of students with special educational needs. The second day, organized mainly by The Grammar School Nicosia, included a visit to their school which is known for promoting a variety of extracurricular activities, including charity and community work, sports, and cultural pursuits. During the visit, partners were given a tour of various classrooms, sports fields, and laboratories. This provided a firsthand look at the school’s facilities and the innovative approaches they use in education. Launch of the SPECTRUM Project in Prague

At the end of January, the kick-off face-to-face meeting of the international consortium of the new Erasmus+ project, SPECTRUM - Supporting Elementary School Teachers in Recognizing and Understanding Minors with Special Educational Needs, took place in Prague. During the two-day meeting, all participants were briefed on the project objectives, project packages, timeline, financial aspects and dissemination strategies. The informal part of the meeting consisted of a tour of the historical centre of Prague as well as a tasting of traditional Czech cuisine. The aim of this project is to create an inclusive learning environment across different sectors to promote equitable learning experiences from early childhood to higher education. The intention is to support teachers who are not trained in special pedagogy, yet work with children with disabilities on a daily basis without the much-needed systemic support. Partners from the Czech Republic, Cyprus and Spain will be working on this issue for the next 2 years and we will keep you informed about the results of our work.
